(KLZA) Nemaha County School District #29 in Auburn will welcome students back for the 2013-14 school year on Thursday, August 15th for a half-day of school. The Pre-school program will start on Monday, August 19th.
School will begin at 8 a-m for most students. Those in the Alternative Education Learning Center will start their day at 8:30 a-m.
School dismissal will begin at 3 p-m for the Alternative School; 3:15 p-m for K-5th grade students at Calvert Elementary, 3:35 p-m for the Middle School students and 3:37 p-m for High School Students.
The Auburn School District offers both a breakfast and lunch program for students as well as a free and reduced price meals for qualifying families.
Student handbooks should arrive in the mail the first day of school for all students.
Bus rides are available for students living more than four miles from the chool. Group pickup points will include Brownville at the Brownville House at 6:48 a-m and drop off will be at 4:10 p-m.
In Nemaha pickup will be at the Mini-Mart at 6:35 a-m with drop off at 4 p-m. In Peru the bus will pickup students at the VFW at 7:15 a-m and at the Peru State College Corner at 7:25 a-m. Drop off in Peru will be at 4 p-m.
Superintendent Kevin Reiman says the expectation is for about the same number of students in the district as last school year.
