(KNZA)--Details are sketchy regarding the death of an Atchison man, who reportedly died Tuesday following a reported shooting earlier in the week.
The 24-year-old was hospitalized following the incident, which Troy Police Chief Speedy Stewart says happened around 3 miles west of Troy.
However, Stewart says the case is being investigated by the Doniphan County Sheriff's Department, and phone messages left with Sheriff Chad Clary have gone unreturned.
Law enforcement sources, speaking on condition of anonymity because they're not authorized to speak about the case, say the shooting is believed to be accidental, but remains under investigation.
The victim's name is being withheld until official confirmation is obtained.
