Hiawatha City Commission Adopts 2014 Budget
08/23/2013

( KNZA )--The Hiawatha City Commission has adopted a 2014 budget of nearly $7 million that calls for an about two mill property tax levy decrease.

The action followed a hearing Monday evening which drew no public comment.

The budget contains an estimated tax rate of 45.788 mills, which is to generate just under a million dollars.

The commission was able to lower the mill levy due to a 1.3 million dollar increase in the city’s assessed valuation
