(KAIR)--The Kansas Highway Patrol and the Atchison County Sheriff's Department were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on a county road about three miles southwest of Atchison just after 10:30 Thursday morning.
According to the Highway Patrol's report, 32-year-old David Jones of Atchison was traveling north on Osage Road, just north of 262nd Road, in his 2002 Silverado when he left the road for an unknown reason, went into a creek bed, and struck a tree.
Smith was able to extract himself from his vehicle and managed to make his way to the highway where he was able to get help. He was taken to the KU medical center for treatment of his injuries.
