(KAIR)--Running from the cops is never a good idea, and as an Atchison man can tell you, it can also land you behind bars in most cases.
37-year-old Wykeen Gill was observed walking with an unidentified female on the 1000 block of Laramie Friday evening. A passing police officer noticed that Gill was acting oddly, as if he were trying to conceal something, and decided to investigate.
When the officer asked his name, Gill gave the false name of John Brown and proceeded to take off in a run. After a short chase, the official apprehended Gill and obtained his legal name through his drivers license. Gill had decided to run because he had several warrants out for his arrest for contempt of court and failure to appear in court.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that Gill had several small, individual bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He faces two charges of obstructing the legal process, and count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
He remains in the Atchison County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
