(KNZA)--Repairs will be made at a historic house in Troy.
The Doniphan County Commission Monday accepted the lone bid from Henderson Masonry of Clarksdale, Missouri for the replacement of the 100-foot long limestone retaining wall at the Tennant-Baker House along with the existing walkway and steps for $64,633.
Funding for the project will come from sales tax monies.
The Tennant-Baker House located at 138 East Walnut Street is significant because it’s where Abraham Lincoln visited his friend, Sidney Tennant, when he passed through Troy in early December 1859.
The house, constructed in early 1856, has been restored by the Doniphan County Historical Society.
