(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has approved the purchase of two new road graders for the county road and bridge department.
The commission Monday accepted a bid from Murphy Tractor, of Topeka, for a demonstration model John Deere 770GP road grader for $119,482 with the trade-in of a 2001 Caterpiller grader.
The commission also accepted a bid from Foley Equipment, of Topeka, for the purchase of a Caterpillar DGH grader for $80,000 with the trade-in of a 1973 Caterpillar grader.
In other business, the commission voted to purchase 14 “ Life Pak” portable defibrillators from the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital for a total of $30,000. Commissioners said the defibrillators will be put in the sheriff’s department’s patrol cars as well as in the Sabetha and Seneca Police vehicles that don’t have them already.
