Voters Approve Buchanan Co Ambulance Tax
11/05/2013

(MSC News)--A light turnout out the polls Tuesday brought enough votes to approve an ambulance tax in Buchanan County, Missouri.

KQ2-TV is reporting that the quarter-cent tax passed by a vote of 6,307 to 3,165.

The vote follows a decision by Heartland Health earlier this year to discontinue providing ambulance service to the community on July 1, 2014.

Voter approval means funding will be provided to turn service over to a county-run, non-profit board.

The County Clerk's office estimated a 15 percent turnout during Tuesday's election. The final count was a little more than 18 percent.
