(KAIR)--A Topeka man is facing several charges after he allegedly removed copper wiring from a business in Jefferson county.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig, his department received a call on the evening of October 27th that someone was removing the wire from the Hamms shop, located on U.S. 24 highway in Perry. Herrig once officers arrived on the scene, 24-year-old Thad Vanvleck attempted to avoid being apprehended by allegedly fleeing the scene in his vehicle but ended up crashing his car, which required him to spend over a week in the hospital.
Vanvleck was booked into the Jefferson county jail early Thursday morning after his recovery, and faces several charges including aggravated assault of an law enforcement officer, fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, two counts of theft of property or services, and criminal damage to property. No bond has been set at this time.
