(KAIR)--Atchison-area Allegiance Communications customers were left without service as heavy thunderstorms pummel the area Saturday night.
It was shortly after 7:00 when an Emergency Alert System broadcast interrupted regular programming to alert viewers of an extension for the severe thunderstorm warning affecting Atchison County.
Once the alert ended, all channels went black, except for a technical messaging at the top of the screen.
A phone call to the Allegiance customer helpline indicates the storm is to blame for the outage, with broadcasting equipment damaged. Technicians have been alerted and repairs will be made when possible.
