(KTNC) - The Humboldt City Council will have to decide how to proceed, after the city again received no bids to clean properties that have been declared nuisances.
The city had hoped to open sealed bids on November 5, but received no bids by then. They advertised for sealed bids again, and again no one submitted a bid by Tuesday’s deadline.
The Humboldt City Council will discuss nuisance abatement at its first December meeting. It’s possible city workers may have to do the work if a contractor cannot be found.
The council took other action on nuisance abatement Tuesday night. They rescinded the declared nuisance against two properties that have been cleaned. They approved a motion to hire a contractor to clean six properties whose owners had received extensions but failed to clean the property by the required deadline.
In other action Tuesday, the Humboldt City Council approved a contract to replace the Auditorium roof. The contract is with Centi-Mark of Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania, at a total cost of $73,646.
The council approved a motion to renew the city’s flood insurance with FEMA for 2014 at a cost of $499.
The council held of on a request from Matt Mezger to remove a tree line north of his property at 1155 Long Branch. The trees are not in good condition, but the council delayed action to approve the request since the city’s main water line runs under the tree line.
