(KLZA)-- The City of Auburn submitted a grant application in October to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission hoping to receive money for helping develop a recreational trail. The Auburn application was rated number one in the state. The Commission meets in January and Auburn expects to find out how much grant money will be received at that time.
The Acting Trail Grant Administrator with the University of Nebraska at Lincoln contacted the City of Auburn to see if they were interested in partnering with a UNL college student on planning for the trail through the UNL Community and Regional Planning Graduate Program. Mayor Scott Kudrna said this would be a cost-affective way for Auburn to receive plans and would also help the student with his course work.
The Council took no action on the proposal Monday night opting to instead wait and see what is included in a comprehensive plan for recreational facilities. Olson and Associates is currently working to develop the new plan so no action was taken on the UNL program offer at this time.
The Auburn Council this week did approve the 2014 holidays off for City employees. They will be the same as this current year.
The scope of work proposed by JEO Consulting Group for the 9th Street Storm Sewer Improvement Project was approved with the next step going to bids for the work.
