(KNZA)--The Horton Public Library is undergoing a makeover.
New windows are currently being installed in the name of energy efficiency, while a bright new look for the building is in store when fresh paint is applied and new carpeting put in place.
Library Director Rita Higley says the Library, next year, will celebrate its 75th anniversary in the building at 809 1st Avenue East. The occasion inspired the Horton Library Board to move forward with approving the renovation, being funded through an improvement account, as well as donations and monetary support from the city.
The windows being replaced were in place at the time the library began operating in the building.
Prior to the big reveal of the library's new look, a two week closure of the facility will be needed to get the work done.
Higley says during that closure, planned from January 4th through the 20th, use of Library materials, including book checkouts, will be unavailable.
However, the Library will be open for two hours on January 6th, 8th and 10th, from 4 until 6:00, to allow patrons to pick up ordered materials delivered by courier service.
Then, from January 13th through the 18th, library staff will deliver such items, with the building renovations not allowing any foot traffic during the period.
