(KTNC) -- For the second time in two years, the Falls City Library and Arts Center has been chosen to receive a donation from the Monsanto Fund.
Thomas Gist selected the Library to receive the $2,500 from Monsanto’s “America’s Farmers Grow Communities” program. Gist was selected as the winner from Richardson County. He also selected the Falls City Library as the recipient of a donation from the Monsanto Fund in 2012.
Library Director Hope Schawang says the donation has not been earmarked for a specific program. But she says they’re looking for a way to use the funds to enhance services to the library’s rural patrons. The Falls City Library has more than 4,200 patrons. Of those, more than 850 live outside of Falls City – 733 in Richardson County, 28 in other counties, and 115 in other states.
Monsanto representative Randy Sickel presented the donation during the Library Board meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
