(KNZA)--One bid is received for a Doniphan County road improvement project.
The County Commission Monday received the lone bid for the Castleton Road overlay project from Topeka-based Bettis Asphalt and Construction. The company submitted a bid of $792,669 for the asphalt surfacing of about 1.5 miles of the road from the Atchison County line north to K-20.
The commission took no action pending a review by project engineers, Schwab-Eaton, and review of available funds through the Kansas Department of Transportation Federal Funds Exchange program.
In other business, the commission accepted a bid from Kansas City, Missouri-based Vance Brothers for the purchase of the oil to be used for this summer's chip and seal work in the amount of $1.99 a gallon delivered. That’s the same amount the county paid last year.
And bids were also opened for the purchase of four motor graders and five dump trucks. However, no action was taken by the commission pending a review of the 2014 budgeted projects and available cash.
