Former KS Atty General Derek Schmidt
(KAIR)--Cell phone users in Kansas now have more protection against unwanted telemarketer calls.
The Kansas House of Representatives voted unanimously Friday on a bill that would extend the state's No-Call Act to cell phones. The Senate had previously voted 38-0 to approve the bill, which had been proposed by Attorney General Derek Schmidt in January.
Schmidt issued a statement Friday praising lawmakers for their unanimous vote, saying that more and more Kansans are abandoning land line phones in favor of cell phones, and by strengthening the No-Call act, legislators are ensuring that consumers' privacy is protected.
The bill will now be sent to Governor Sam Brownback for his consideration.
