Sacred Heart Celebrates Catholic Schools Week
01/31/2012

Falls City Sacred Heart School is celebrating Catholic Schools Week, which began Sunday and continues through the week.  This year marks the 121st year of Catholic education at Sacred Heart School, which opened in 1891 and has been open all but one year since then.
The Sacred Heart National Honor Society hosted an open house (this/Monday) morning as a way to thank the community for its support of Sacred Heart School.
Monsignor Robert Roh is the Superintendent of Sacred Heart.  He says the school enjoys support from Catholics and non-Catholics alike in Falls City.  (play audio   :53)
Monsignor Roh says that support extends to cooperation between Sacred Heart and Falls City Public Schools.  (play audio   :20)
Sacred Heart is raising funds to build a new gymnasium and activity center to replace Tiehen Gym, which was built in 1924.  Between high school, junior high, and now elementary athletic practices and activities, Monsignor Roh says the school needs more space.  (play audio  :50)
Activities will be held throughout the week at Sacred Heart to mark Catholic Schools Week.  Tuesday is Parent Appreciation Day; Wednesday is Honors Day, with new members of the National Honor Society to be recognized with a luncheon prior to the induction ceremony Wednesday afternoon.  Thursday is Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day; and Friday is Grandfriends Day.
