A bridge on a Doniphan County road west of Troy will be replaced with a tube.
A group of landowners from the Moray area and 1st District Road Supervisor Bobby Edie met with the Doniphan County Commission Monday to discuss the replacement of a bridge on 175th Road with a 10 by 120 foot tube.
Following discussion, the commission voted to authorize Mueting Engineers to apply for the necessary water resources permits in order to complete the project.
In other business, Scott Michie with Scott Michie Planning Services of the Kansas City, Missouri area gave commissioners a presentation on updating the county’s zoning codes. The codes were last updated in 1965.
Michie said he has been in contact with representatives of the cities of Elwood, Highland and Wathena and would incorporate all jurisdictions in a new comprehensive zoning policy plan.
It was the consensus of commissioners to have Michie proceed with compiling a proposal for updating the Doniphan County zoning codes.
Road Secretary Martha Wiedmer informed commissioners that the county has received nearly $46,000 in FEMA funds for 2011 flood projects.
The money has been deposited into the FEMA fund.
In addition, the county has requested an extension from FEMA for completion of 2010 FEMA projects.
