A Falls City teen is the winner of the 2012 Art Competition in Nebraska’s First Congressional District.  Congressman Jeff Fortenberry’s office says a pencil drawing by Ashli Jordan was selected as the winning entry in this year’s competition.
Ashli received first place honors for her entry titled “In His Hands,” which depicts her uncle’s hands holding the feet of her newborn cousin.
Ashli is the daughter of Kathy and Mack Jordan.  She will be a junior this fall at Falls City Sacred Heart High School.
The Congressional art competition began in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982 as a way for members of Congress to showcase the artistic talents of students within their districts.
Ashli and her mother traveled to Washington, D.C. this week to attend a reception with competition winners from across the country.
“In His Hands” will remain on display in the U.S. Capitol for the next year.
