The city of Effingham is prepared to publish their 2013 budget.
In their monthly meeting Tuesday night, the only major change made to the budget by city council was a one point five mill increase for the city library.
According to City Clerk Pat Strine, city staff planned for the promised increase so that the effect on the overall budget was minimal.
Strine says the budget should be ready to publish shortly and a public hearing is scheduled for their next council meeting on August 1st.
The board also dropped a proposed ordinance that would have sped up the condemnation process for dangerous and unfit structures.
Strine says the council felt the current process is sufficient and they reserve the right to revisit creating the ordinance if necessary.
The council also gave the Atchison County Fair Board permission to use the city park and blue building for the Atchison County Fair August 7th through 11th.
