(KLZA) With most of the team returning from a successful 2011-12 season, the outlook for the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat women's golf team looks bright!
Coming off a runner-up performance in their first year of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) at the HAAC's conference tournament, the 'Cats and head coach Brett Hahn have a desire to improve each week. The Bobcats will use the fall season to work on their individual games and then use the off-season to prepare for a spring schedule which will culminate in their efforts to win a HAAC championship.
Four returners and a red-shirt freshmen will make up the fall squad. The team will be led by senior Jordan Schaardt (Humboldt). If she is healthy, Schaardt has the capability of being a medalist in most meets. Last year, Schaardt fought off injuries to finish second in the HAAC tourney by shooting 83-86 for a two-day total of 189.
Two other HAAC medalists return for the fall. Junior Courtney Musgrave (Omaha) finished just one stroke behind Schaardt at 170 in the HAAC meet after playing her best tournament since becoming a Bobcat. The other HAAC medalist returning will be senior Katie Potter (Omaha). Potter had her best finish of the season by finishing eighth in the conference meet with a two-day total of 180.
Junior Jacey Stoner (Alda) is the fourth returner for the Bobcats. Stoner showed steady improvement throughout the year and played her best golf during her second year as a member of the team.
Joining the 'Cats this year will be Elizabeth Huls (Beatrice). Huls red-shirted last year after playing for the Beatrice High Lady Orange.
Red-shirting this year will be Chelsea Turek (York). Turek will work on her individual game and look to be a contributing member next year.
