(KLZA) The Pawnee County Commissioners conducted a public hearing on the 2012-13 fiscal year budget when they met Tuesday. The board approved the budget, which includes increasing the levy lid by the additional one percent as allowed by state law. The Board also approved appropriations for the budget, requiring $1,651,000 in property taxes, up $156,219 from last year. The levy will be approximately 36.7 cents per $100 of assessed valuation, which is up from 33.2 cents per $100 of assessed valuation last year.
The total budget of disbursements total $5,388,559. The Pawnee County Valuation for tax purposes is $450,139,124.
In other business a public hearing was held on a condition use permit regarding Wellhead Protection for the City of Pawnee City well field. After discussion, the board approved entering into an interlocal agreement with the City of Pawnee City for Wellhead Protection. The vote was 2-1 with Commissioners Wayne Cacek and Jan Lang voting yes and Commissioners Brad Stake casting a nay vote.
The Board also approved an agreement with the State of Nebraska on a project in the Table Rock area.
