Nebraska State Senator Charged With Misuse of Funds
(KLZA) Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning says Omaha state Sen. Brenda Council misused campaign cash at casinos and filed false reports concealing that.
Bruning said his office filed two misdemeanor charges against Council on Wednesday for the reports, and Council agreed to plead guilty.
Bruning says it's clear Council has a problem with gambling. She withdrew $63,000 at casinos over the last several years, and deposited $36,000 in cash.
Council is running for a second term representing northeast Omaha's District 11 against her predecessor, Ernie Chambers, who was the longest-serving member of the Nebraska Legislature.
