Alcohol Suspected as Cause of Injury Accident
09/24/2012

(KAIR) -- Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to a single-vehicle injury accident Saturday night in rural Atchison County.

According to Atchison County Undersheriff Larry Myer, the accident occurred on 330th Road, east of Morton road when a 1997 Ford truck driven by 18-year-old Dustin Saunders of Highland was traveling east on 330th Road.

Myer says he failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle rolled at least once into a field.

Saunders and a passenger, 20-year-old Michael Hurd, also of Highland, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Myer says that Hurd was cited for minor in possession of alcohol and information was presented to the County Attorney’s office for suspicion of driving under the influence for Saunders.

Both occupants were not wearing seatbelts.
