Pawnee City Council Approves Storefront Grants
09/25/2012

(KTNC) - The Pawnee City Council approved two Storefront Enhancement Grants during Monday’s meeting.
The grants include a $1,000 award to install an awning at 612 G Street, and $7,000 to install a new door and windows on the north portion of the Adobe Grille at 625 G Street.
The grants were approved following a public hearing.  The council also approved the recommendation of the Reuse Committee to end the Storefront Enhancement grant program after the latest projects are completed.
The council approved a payment of $3,499 to SENDD for administration of the Housing Rehab Project.
In other business, the council approved the appointment of Don Jacobs and Vickie Zelenka to four-year terms on the Library Board.  They will replace Cheryl Dahlgren and Betsy Williams on the board.
Ed Raper of the Citizen Advisory Board presented the Pawnee City Development Corporation audit.  In the last year, the PCDC has funded eight projects for more than $25,000.  Projects the organization has helped fund include the veteran’s memorial, fireworks, a trap shoot, an intern for the Historical Society, a portion of the storefront enhancement grants, and the assisted living and housing studies.
And Curt Parks met with the council and Sheriff Jayme Reed during Monday’s meting.  Parks wants Pawnee City to approve the use of all-terrain and utility vehicles on city streets.  The matter was tabled as city staff investigates similar ordinances that have been approved in other Nebraska towns, including Tecumseh and Table Rock.
