09/26/2012

(KAIR)--A grand-opening, complete with ribbon cutting, is planned Wednesday, in the community of Nortonville, where the Pantry of Hope food bank has begun to provide assistance(Play Audio)

That's Pastor Michael Van Velzer, of Nortonville's Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church, who worked to see the Pantry of Hope become a reality(Play Audio)

Van Velzer took his findings to community leaders, and launched discussions on how the needs of local hungry children could be met, leading to the opening of the food pantry(Play Audio)

The Pantry of Hope quietly opened its doors in early August and has, so far, provided assistance to around 100 persons in need.

Now, the demand is expected to grow, as the official opening happens with the Wednesday evening ribbon cutting at 6:00. An open house will follow from 6 until 7:30, at the pantry's 124 Osage location in Nortonville.
