Richardson Co. Commissioners Approve Levy Change
09/26/2012

(KLZA) Richardson County Commissioners held a public hearing Tuesday to receive input from the public regarding the change in the tax rate for Richardson County from the prior year.  No one from the public appeared at the hearing.
Following the hearing Commissioners adopted a resolution setting the levy at 38.97 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.  It was noted in the resolution that if it were not for the use of inheritance tax dollars, the county rate would be increased to 41.32 cents to maintain the current level of services.
The Board also drafted  a letter to be sent to Congressman Jeff Fortenberry regarding the extension of the wind energy production tax credit.  A letter was also submitted to the Nebraska State Auditor responding to the findings of the fiscal year end, June 30th, 2012 draft audit report as prepared by the Nebraska State Auditor.
Emergency Management Director Jim Gerweck reported the documents for the grant funding through the Emergency Management Program Grant had not yet been received form the State of Nebraska Emergency Management Agency.  A report and a listing of the items that are ongoing within the Richardson County Emergency Management Agency was reviewed.  An executive session requested by Gerweck was postponed until next week when Commissioner Jim Davidson would be in attendance.
