(KNZA)--Horton City Commissioners met Monday night, with Commissioner Doctor Steve Davies not present for the session.
By the time the meeting came to an end, the reason for his absence was made known:
Davies has decided to resign.
His letter of resignation was read to the present commissioners by City Clerk/City Administrator Candy Schmitt(Play Audio)
Commissioner Wade Edwards made the motion to accept Davies' resignation, stating that it was accepted with regret. The Commission voted in favor unanimously, followed by Mayor Tim Lentz offering words of gratitude for Davies' service.
A reason for Davies' resignation is not immediately available.
The Commission now has ten days to fill the vacancy, and will accept applications, at City Hall, until 2:00 on October 9th. They plan to review the applicants and make a decision on the replacement during a special meeting beginning at 5:15 on the evening of October 11th, at City Hall.
