Debbie Lyons-Blythe, America’s Farmers 2012 Farm Mom of the Year to Speak, November 8
—“Advocating for Agriculture, How Do You Defend Your Livelihood?” is the speaker’s topic for the Women in Ag Conference, November 8, 2012, in Salina. The conference will be at 6:30 pm at the Redeemer Lutheran Church at 743 Magnolia, Salina, Kansas. See registration information below.
Debbie Lyons-Blythe, America’s Farmers 2012 Farm Mom of the Year, will be the speaker. She will share her advocacy philosophy to make a difference with the consuming public.
Lyons-Blythe is the day-to-day manager of the family’s ranch and uses Twitter, Facebook, and blogs throughout the day to communicate with consumers about agriculture. Lyons-Blythe works hard to connect with women—specifically moms—to give them a look into how their food is raised. At the same time, she shares stories about her family, their ranch, and even tried-and-true recipes. She blogs at http://kansascattleranch.blogspot.com.
The Conference is sponsored by K-State Research & Extension-Central Kansas District, Saline County Farm Bureau, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Farm Service Agency, American Ag Credit, and conservation districts.
This Women in Ag conference is designed for any woman who has an interest in farming such as a landowner, farmer/rancher, or farmer’s/rancher’s wife or daughter or daughter-in-law. Men are welcome also.
There is no fee for the conference, but participants are asked to pre-register by November 1. To register, call the Extension office in Salina, 785-309-5850.
