(KAIR/KNZA)--An area teenager suffers injuries when the ATV he was riding near Effingham  encounters a vehicle in a field; and, while acknowledging he was riding where he shouldn't have been, the boy's mother says the vehicle's driver pulled into his path intentionally, leaving the teen hurt(Play Audio)

That's Effingham resident Kimberly Gore Thomas, mother of 17-year-old Colten Thomas, of Atchison, who began the 4-wheeler ride on his mother's property.

The incident is confirmed by Atchison County Sheriff John Calhoon, who says it happened Sunday evening, in the rural vicinity of Effingham, on property located along Ellsworth Road(Play Audio)

Calhoon says injuries were not initially indicated in the early stages of the investigation(Play Audio)

Thomas alleges that along with the impact that happened when the pick-up pulled into the path of her son's 4-wheeler, the truck's driver shoved him, with a Doctor's visit Monday revealing the injuries suffered(Play Audio)

Thomas, on Monday afternoon, delivered the doctor's findings to the Sheriff's department, saying that she was  informed by the undersheriff that charges would likely not be filed.  However, Calhoon says that may change, as the County Attorney reviews the matter, including the doctor's findings(Play Audio)

Thomas says her son's 18-year-old girlfriend was riding on the 4-wheeler with him. The name of the driver of the truck is not immediately made public, pending the filing of any formal charges.
