(KTNC) - The Pawnee City Council met in the Union Bank basement Monday night, to accommodate a larger-than-usual audience.
A few people attended the meeting to hear a presentation on the assisted living facility. City Clerk Tammy Stephens says representatives from the assisted living committee, along with the project architect, contractor, and others presented information on the facility to the City Council. Jan Stopak with USDA Rural Development also was at the meeting. Stephens says she wanted to know who would be the applicant for the 40-year revenue bonds that will be used to pay for the facility. (play audio :12)
The revenue bonds are for $2.8 million at 3.5-percent interest. While the city is the applicant, no money from the city budget would be used to fund the facility, and the city would not be financially liable for the bond. (play audio :31)
The assisted living committee hopes to begin construction on the facility early next spring.
