Repairs at Gavins Point Dam Scheduled to Begin Monday
(KLZA) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is getting ready to repair the concrete slab below the Gavins Point Dam spillway.
The repairs are scheduled to begin on Monday and will continue for several months.
The concrete slab was damaged last year when a record amount of water was released from the dam's spillway during the 2011 flooding.
In addition to repairing the concrete slab, the corps plans to conduct more assessments of the spillway itself and remove debris from the slab.
While the repairs are ongoing the parking lot on the north side of the spillway will be closed. The training dike boat ramp will also be closed Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
