Auburn Council Approves Law Enforcement Agreement with Nemaha County Nebraska
(KLZA) On a 3-2 vote Monday night the Auburn City Council approved a change in law enforcement with the start of 2013. The Auburn Police Department will no longer exist after the end of the year and the City will contract with Nemaha County, Nebraska for law enforcement coverage.

Mayor Kudrna explained with the recent resignation of Police Chief Kris Baker now was the time to look at the future of law enforcement in Auburn. ( play audio :21 seconds )

Voting against the change were Council members Katie Billings and Shawn Clark.
Mayor Kudrna says under the agreement, the savings to the City should be in excess of $100,000. ( play audio :28 seconds )
The Nemaha County Commissioners meet next Wednesday and will also have to approve the agreement. There will be changes in the number of deputies in Nemaha County under the agreement. ( play audio :10 seconds )
