(KNZA)--The Horton Police Department has hired a new part time officer.
He is Dugan Shoemaker, who currently works full time for the Kickapoo Tribal Police Department.
Horton Police Chief Beau Hasenohr notified Horton City Commissioners about the hiring of Shoemaker during Monday evening's City Commission Meeting.
Shoemaker is now on the job, having worked several shifts since he recently stepped into the position.
He was not in attendance during the meeting.
Hasenohr, during his address to the Commission, was asked about last week's break-in at a Horton liquor store, and whether or not any new leads have developed.
Hasenohr said there are not yet any suspects but the investigation is continuing.
The burglary is believed to have occurred sometime after 2:00 last Friday morning with someone smashing through the front window of the Liquor Well, at 210 East 15th Street in Horton.
The loss was estimated at 15-hundred dollars. A small amount of liquor was also taken.
