(KNZA)--Energy efficiency, for small Horton businesses, is proposed by the Kansas Corporation Commission and discussed this week when Horton City Commissioners met.
Energy Programs Consultant Preston Miller appeared before the Commission, outlining the keys to the program(Play Audio)
Miller explained that Horton is selected as the pilot site for the program, which resembles the residential efficiency program already in place in the community. Unlike that one, the Efficiency Kansas Commercial Lighting Program focuses only on small businesses, defined as those that are less than 15-thousand square feet. However, Miller says that requirement could be reviewed and changed in the future.
Implementation requires City Commission approval, but would come at no cost to the city(Play Audio)
The maximum available loan, for the efficiency program, is 30-thousand-dollars, with the maximum interest set at 6 percent.
Miller's presentation resulted in some questions, and discussion, from the Horton Commissioners; and, while interest seemed positive, they requested more details regarding the program in writing prior to moving forward with providing their stamp of approval.
It was later in the meeting that Commissioners named a new City Treasurer.
Of the two applicants for the position, Traci Molt was chosen to the fill the role.
The vacancy was created by last month's resignation of Jennifer Stevens.
