(KAIR) -- Citizens in northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri interested in volunteering when disaster strikes will have an opportunity to be trained on what to do.
The Midland Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross will host a training session Tuesday from nine until four at their office at 401 N. 12th Street in Saint Joseph.
Emergency Services Director Karla Long says the free introductory training is open to everyone.

She says the training will not only be helpful for those to help locally, but for deployments to other disasters around the nation.

The training is open to anyone in the Midland Empire Chapter, which encompasses Atchison, Brown and Doniphan Counties in Kansas and 10 counties from Saint Joseph to the Iowa border in Northwest Missouri.
