High Speed Chase Lands Sabetha Man In Jail
02/15/2013

(KMZA)--A Sabetha man is facing a number of charges following what Sabetha Police describe as a two county high speed chase Thursday night.

According to Police Chief Robert Wahwasuck, 49-year-old Paul Forney failed to stop for officers, and instead fled in his vehicle, leaving Police Officers and Nemaha and Brown County Sheriff's Deputies to pursue him.

The chase, which reached speeds over 100 miles per hour and lasted over twenty minutes,  apparently began in the City of Sabetha, crossed into other areas of Nemaha County, and came to an end in Brown County.  It was there that tire deflation devices were used by law enforcement to flatten the tires of Forney's vehicle.

He was taken into custody without further incident on charges of felony fleeing to elude law enforcement, violation of the registration offender act and possession of narcotics.

Forney was booked into the Nemaha County Jail where he's held without bond.

Wahwasuck says a passenger was inside Forney's vehicle, and found to be frightened but unharmed.  No charges were filed against the passenger.
