02/19/2013

(KTNC) - The Falls City, City Council, approved the One and Six Year Street Plan Monday night.
Justin Stark with Olsson and Associates of Lincoln outlined the plan for the council.
There are no changes from the previous plan, with four projects on the One-Year Plan. The city’s share of the cost is 215-thousand dollars.  (play audio   :39)
There are three projects on the Six-Year Plan.  (play audio  :32)
There are a couple other projects Stark said that go beyond the Six-Year Plan.  Those are extending Burton Street south to Highway 159 and extending Abbott Street from 28th Street to 31st Street.
The City Council unanimously approved the resolution to accept the One-and-Six-Year Plan following the public hearing.
In other business Monday night, the City Council accepted the bid of $29,921from Haug Communications to construct a 9-1-1 tower at the new City Office Building at 2307 Barada Street.
The council accepted a bid of $42,904 for electrical services and a generator for the new City Office Building.
The council approved the list of automatic liquor license renewals for 2013 as presented.  They also approved, unanimously, a Class C liquor license at 1821 Stone Street for Eric Froeschl.  Froeschl told the council he plans to open a bar and grill at the site of the former Sportsman’s Bar.
The council approved the appointment of Wendy Bevins to the Falls City Fire Department.  Bevins’ appointment brings the number of members of the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department to 30.
And a request from the Library and Community Foundation of Richardson County was approved to provide reports to the council annually rather than semi-annually.
The change would alter a 2009 Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the Foundation requiring semi-annual reports.  In a letter to the council, Foundation secretary Sandra Hartman said the change would result in less paperwork for the Library, the City, and the Foundation.
