(KNZA)--A 33-year-old Hiawatha man, on the run from Brown County authorities in recent weeks, is now in custody.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says James Leroy “Jamie” Spicer was taken into custody Saturday due to information received from concerned citizens.
Spicer was apprehended by a Nemaha County Deputy near Seneca and transported to the county line and turned over to a Brown County Deputy.
Merchant says Spicer is a person of interest in recent criminal activity in multiple jurisdictions and was taken into custody on warrants of misdemeanor failure to appear in the City of Hiawatha and felony failure to appear in Brown County Court.
In December, Spicer was arrested by the Brown County Sheriff's Department on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license cancelled, suspended or revoked.
He remains in custody in the Brown County Jail.
Merchant commends the public for the help they provided in leading to the arrest.
