(KAIR)--A Kansas City man is sentenced to 95 years in federal prison, stemming from bank robberies committed in Leavenworth and Topeka.
55-year-old Charles Shaw was convicted by a jury in November for robbing the Main Street Credit Union, in November 2010 and the Citizens National Bank in February of 2011.
Along with those two Leavenworth locations, Shaw was was found guilty for robbing the Topeka based Educational Credit Union in 2011 and attempting to rob it again, several months later, in February of 2012. The jury also found of him guilty of carrying a firearm during the attempt, and carrying a firearm after a felony conviction.
Prior to his latest set of crimes, Shaw had five prior convictions for armed robbery dating back to 1983.
Along with the prison sentence, Shaw is ordered to pay more than 54-thousand-dollars in restitution.
Along with the FBI, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom commended the efforts of the Leavenworth Police Department.
