(KNZA)--A different day, a different scam.
That's how it might appear based on the heavy number of reported schemes that make their way into the local area, with area residents serving as would be prey by the scammers.
The intent is the same regardless of the setup, or method, of the scam: get money from someone by making false claims or promises.
Due to the high number of scams, the Hiawatha Police Department has partnered with the local Edward Jones Financial Services for a forum on Friday focused on the problem.
Police Officer Janet Jeffery says a variety of scam related issues will be the focus of the early evening “Fraud and Scams” presenatation.
The session will begin at 5:30 Friday evening at the Fisher Center in Hiawatha.
The public is encouraged to attend, and coffee and tea will be provided.
The presenation will be made by Jeffery and Brad Edwards of the Hiawatha Edward Jones office.
