(KNZA)--The contractor is now selected for a mandated upgrade to the lagoon system in the community of Robinson.
A bid opening is now completed, with Banks Construction, of Muscotah, selected as the contractor, submitting the low bid of $105,910.
They are currently in the process of preparing for the start of the extensive overhaul, as required by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The work will begin when weather allows.
City Clerk Jack Allen says portions of grant funds, awarded in the amount of $123,000 from the Kansas Department of Commerce, will go towards the work, as will portions of a $123,000 loan from the KDHE. Part of those monies will also be used in the overhaul of the community's sewer system, which is also mandated by the state agency.
