Regional Programs Set Covering Exploitation of Older Adults

(KAIR) -- Several programs around the region have been set to discuss prevention of financial abuse and exploitation of older adults.

The free sessions are set to kick off in Atchison Thursday morning at the Atchison Library and are sponsored by Mainstream Inc. of Topeka.

Executive Director Herb Callison says they plan to feature Kansas Assistant Attorney General Travis Herrod on the legal standpoint, as well as local experts on the banking and financial side.

Callison says the presenters will cover four major topics.

The programs run from 10 until noon with registration beginning at 9:30.

The programs will also be featured April 11th at the Holton United Methodist Church, April 18th at the Morrill Public Library in Hiawatha and May 16th at the Marysville Public Library.

Callison adds these sessions are appropriate for seniors, caregivers, representative of seniors, employees of financial institutions, law enforcement and citizens concerned with prevention of elder financial abuse.
