Truck Driver Injured in Collision with House
03/26/2013

(KTNC) - Road conditions were a factor in an accident that resulted in a truck colliding with a house in Nemaha County Nebraska Sunday morning.
The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department reports that 70-year-old William Schneider of Rosendale, Missouri, was driving a semi-trailer eastbound on Highway 136 shortly before 10:30 Sunday morning, when he hit a slick spot in the road and lost control of the rig.
The truck slid off the highway, went through the ditch, slid across a driveway, and slammed into a house off Highway 136, three-quarters of a mile east of 634 Avenue.
Schneider told authorities he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.  He was taken by ambulance to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn with a possible back injury.
Damage to the home, owned by Freda Stahl, was estimated at 10-thousand dollars, while the truck, owned by Markt Truck Lines of St. Joseph, was totaled.
