( KNZA )--The Sabetha City Commission this week on a 3-2 vote approved an ordinance that would restrict parking on South 14th Street, between Main and Oregon streets.
The west side of the street already is designated as no parking. Now, parking on the east side of the street will not be allowed between 8 and 4 Monday through Friday.
Commissioners Nick Aberle and Maridel Wittmer cast the no votes against approval of the ordinance.
Wittmer said she had received multiple calls from citizens concerned with safety vehicles being able to get through on the road.
In other business, the commission also approved spring burn dates.
Residents may burn small brush within the city limits now through May 6th. However, the Sabetha Fire Chief has the authority to impose a burning ban at any time if needed.
