(KLZA) Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday met with representatives of Carlson West Provondra and Prochaska and Associates to review the companies proposals for renovating the Armory on the west edge of Falls City into a jail / law enforcement facility. Preliminary estimates on the renovation of the building range from approximately 1.3 to two million dollars.

Alex Shada, Public Relations Director with the Food Bank of  Lincoln met with the Board to present information about their program offered in Richardson County.  The Food Bank assists with the BackPack Program and assists SENCA with the distribution of pre-packed bags for senior citizens and hold a food distribution each month at Prichard Auditorium.  More than 48,000 meals were distributed in Richardson County in 2012.

Commissioners also approved a grant application for continued funding of the Richardson County Transit System.  $14,192 is requested from Richardson County for local matching funds.  That amount represents an increase of $3,001 from last year due to increasing operation costs and plans to offer more operating hours to accommodate riders.
