Falls City Man Dies in Accident
04/01/2013

(KTNC) - A Falls City man was killed in a rollover accident in western Iowa this past weekend.
Authorities with the Shelby County Iowa Sheriff’s Department found 21-year-old Tanner Merz’ 2003 Ford Taurus upside down in a ditch along a county road south of Irwin, Iowa, at approximately 2:45 Saturday morning.
Authorities say the car was sitting on its roof.  Paramedics worked to extract Merz from his car, but he died at the scene.  Investigators say Merz was driving north when he lost control of his vehicle.
Tanner Merz was a 2010 Falls City High School graduate.  He was attending Midland University in Fremont and was a wrestling coach for the North Bend Public Schools, including the head coach of the junior high team and assistant for the high school team.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, at 20th and Towle, in Falls City.
