Atchison & Jefferson County Election Results

(KAIR) -- A low turnout was the main story for elections in Atchison and Jefferson Counties Tuesday.

Atchison County reported a six-point-five percent turnout while Jefferson County reported just over 12 percent.

In Atchison County, Lancaster Mayor Tim Callahan defeated challenger Thad Damon.

For USD 409's school board, Incumbents Dr. John Eplee, Carrie Sowers and Diane Liebsh won by a wide margin.

Steve Meeks was re-elected to position five on the Effingham USD 377 Board.

In Jefferson County, Charles Stutesman was re-elected Valley Falls Mayor with 69 percent of the vote over challenger Jose Chavez.

Andrew Dinger and Lucille Thomas earned seats on the Valley Falls City Council, while Scott Weissenbach and James Moore earned seats on the McLouth City Council.

For the USD 338 school board, Sharon Sweeney defeated John Shipley, Jr. 52 to 44 percent.
