Food Collection Operation to Conclude April 30th
(KAIR) -- A Jefferson County 4-H service project will conclude at the end of April.
“Operation Kick Me Out of My Bedroom” organizer Colby Weishaar has decided to take the recent offer from the national hunger prevention organization, the Feinstein Foundation, to match food donations.
The 12-year-old originally started by setting a goal to fill up his bedroom with non-perishable items at the beginning of the school year so he didn’t have to clean his room. Since then; he’s filled it several times over, surpassing his goal of 2000 items collected by the first of June.
As of late last week, his count was just over 2400 items.
Weishaar started the project to help the food pantries in Jefferson County and to honor late 4-H leader Dee Rule.
The number to call for donation information is 785-215-2894.
