(KNZA)--It was last year that State of Kansas budget constraints put an end to funding for Main Street Programs, utilized for revitalization of community downtown business areas.
However, since that time, restructuring has occurred, and Main Street communities continue their efforts, despite the loss.
That will be evident this week as a celebration of sorts, focused on Main Street's rebirth, is held in Holton.
Billed as “Redefining Kansas Main Street,” the two day event will serve to officially relaunch the program, and follows the recent announcement that Holton Main Street has received National Main Street Accreditation for 2013.
On Thursday, the Evangelical United Methodist Church, at 227 Penn Avenue, in Holton, will be the site for the relaunching ceremony.
Along with the Mayor, distinguished speakers will include Ron Kelley, President of the Kansas Main Street Initiative along with President elect Bev Glass.
Running from 1 until 4:00, complete with vendors booths, the relaunch will continue Friday, with a Director's training from 9 to 11:00, followed by the Kansas Main Street Board Meeting from 11:30 until 1:00.
